The Call
Have you ever thought about the people God calls to do ministry? How some feel inadequate and others feel superior because of their knowledge. How people dismiss those that feel they are called to be pastors but don’t necessarily “fit the mold”. Or how those that do “fit the mold” assume they should be great pastors, but yet it’s obvious they don’t have the heart for the people they claim to be called to.
As we consider these things, we must remember Jesus didn’t go to the temples to find His disciples. He didn’t go to the men that were scholars and studying the laws.
He went to the ordinary people. The ones working all day to catch fish. The ones among the very people they would minister to. He went to the ones that others did not like. (No one is fond of tax collectors, then or now.)
The men He went to were the ordinary ones. These are the men that grew the early church. These are the Apostles that now sit with Jesus in heaven.
As it is said…
God doesn’t call the qualified.
He qualifies the called.
“The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13 NLT
Don’t let the feeling of inadequacy keep you from the calling God has for you. God can use ordinary fishermen and tax collectors. He can use you!
