The War General’s Table
I remember your table. A simple short folding table that you kept in front of your recliner. Every inch of it was covered with books, notebooks, letters and note cards. A true War General’s table. There were many battles fought at that table. And just as many victories celebrated. Tear stained, well worn books. You were a warrior. A strong woman of God that understood the power of prayer.
Your confidence in God was inspirational. You knew God could heal you if that was His will. And if not, well, you would still love and serve Him no matter what.
Nothing was too big or small to pray about and you reminded me of that quite often. Once something was prayed for, it was in God’s hands. There was a situation I was stressed about, and you prayed with me. We than wrote the date and prayer in my Bible and you said it was answered, we didn’t need to worry about it anymore. And then promptly change the subject! I still smile thinking of that day because just a few short days later, that prayer was answered.
Life wasn’t always easy. Some days far worse than others. But you held your head high and simply said, “Hallelujah anyhow!” I will forever remember your smile and the lessons you taught me. I hold dear your song and have begun teaching it to my son. Every time we sing it, I’ll hear your echo…
Hallelujah anyhow (…anyhow..)
Never never let your troubles get you down (…get you down…)
When life’s troubles come your way, hold your head up high and say
Hallelujah anyhow!
